ABOUT GOVINDA
I am inspired by the strength and resiliance of the human spirit and love assisting people who are on a journey of healing and self-discovery. I became a therapist because I am passionate about personal growth and I love working with people. My primary modality is Internal Family Systems (IFS) and I also have training and experience with Hakomi, Gestalt and AEDP. All of these modalities are body-centered approaches that have a mindfulness orientation.
I completed my Level 1 training in Internal Family Systems in 2011. I was on the training staff for the IFS Institute from 2013-2017 and have trained over 100 therapists in the IFS model. I have also completed Level 2 and Level 3 IFS trainings. I love sharing my passion for IFS with clients and other therapists. Assisting trainings gave me an opportunity to teach and inspire other therapists and deepen my own learning process at the same time. I continue to teach IFS workshops for counseling centers in the Bay Area and I also offer IFS consultation.
I have an M.A. in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. I chose to go to CIIS because of its holistic framework and blend of Eastern and Western approaches. I also have a certification in Rolfing from the Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado and had a Rolfing practice in the Bay Area from 2003 to 2019. I have a B.S. in Business Administration from Humboldt State University and was the Director of Operations for several startups in San Francisco from 1999-2003.
Outside of being a therapist, I am passionate about music, satire, health and nature and I love traveling in Southeast Asia. I am comfortable working with a diverse population of clients and I create a warm and supportive space to experience growth and change.
